This is the second dying crow I have encounted this summer, except this crow spent its last hot afternoon just before Labor Day on our front lawn. I called the West Nile hotline to no avail, as the recorded voice told me that if the crow was sick but not dead to call Animal Control. Animal Control was busy all afternoon.

This poor crow was so sick he wouldn't even move if dogs walked by with their owners. He would just look up miserably at the dog and weakly flap his wing.

According to my mom whose black lab puppy likes to take walkabouts, OC Animal Control's phone is so deluged with calls about sick crows that if you have lost your dog, you can't reach anyone.
